Heat transfer and insulation

When a hotter environment is placed in contact with a cooler one, the difference of temperature triggers a process called heat transfer. This is why your home cools off in summer for instance.

In this case, it is important to be conscious about energy efficiency. The temperature in your house can strongly depend on the kind of heating solution you use. For example, there are also alternatives such as an air conditioner that consume a lot of electricity and turn into a considerable monthly expenditure.

When it gets cold outside during winter, a furnace becomes super important for your home. It provides heat and keeps your house warm and cozy.

Increased insulation is an easy way to lower your utility bills and save yourself from potential hassles.

To measure the effectiveness of an insulating material, we use R-values (measured in inches). A material with a high R-value is better at keeping heat in, able to stop it from escaping.

When winter temperatures hover around anything below 0 degrees, Spray Foam Insulation Today recommends installing high R-value insulation, such as spray foam. It helps minimize heat transfer and keep your home warm.

It will come in handy during the summer as it will keep you cool and comfortable. It blocks out excessive heat from outside.

We will send a qualified energy auditor to conduct a detailed assessment of your home’s energy, including items that may be causing heat transfer.

If you need additional insulation in your home, we'll let you know what strategy would work best, with no obligation to you.

Types of Insulation

Spray Foam Insulation Today provides different types of insulation. Here's an overview of the four main types that we offer:

Batts and Rolls Insulation

Batts and Rolls: They are the most common type of insulation for homes, usually either fiberglass or mineral wool. The lowest R-value is R-2.9 while the highest is R-3.8

They are suitable for almost any regular space. Their regular shapes make them perfect for spaces such as floor joists, attics or wall studs, and they can also be rolled into different shapes and sizes to cover irregular areas.

Blow-in/Loose-fill Insulation

Loose-fill insulation is just like batts & rolls. It can be made of cellulose, mineral wool, glass fiber or foam fibers.

Loose-fill is a great insulation option for unreachable and constricted spaces. It can be installed without any changes to an existing structure, which is why it's best in rooms like basements and attics.

Rigid Foam Insulation

Rigid foam is much more effective than fibers, which makes it best-suited at keeping air movement to a minimum. This gives it the higher cost than batts and rolls. But it performs much better than loose-fill when it comes to the air insulation department.

We recommend hiring professional installers to make sure the installation of rigid foam insulation goes smoothly.

Installing rigid foam can be challenging, but there are a few steps that help make the process easier. Firstly, all of the seams need to be sealed by pushing foam into it with a tool. It needs to stay firmly in place and not shift like batts or loose-fill insulation.

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam: This is the best type output of home insulation currently available today. It is both high-performance and multipurpose. To make spray foam, hot mix two types of chemicals and give them a good stir.

Hot foam is then sprayed onto the desired surface, where it cools and solidifies. When foam comes into contact with a surface, the liquid dimensions expand exponentially to fill any available space.

Installing spray foam is hard, but it's made much easier if you hire the right company for the job. Spray Foam Insulation Today has been installing spray foam in Snohomish county homes for years and guarantee to do an excellent job.

It is the best insulator when it comes to R-value, versatility, mold&moisture resistance, durability and airtight capacity.

Spray foam will be more expensive to purchase initially, but you can make your investment back in as little as two years. On average spray foam will save you 30-40% off your monthly energy costs.
